American Wireless Launches New Helio Drift Handset
CAMPBELL, CA - September 14, 2006 -
American Wireless, a leading North American wireless master agent,
has launched the Helio Drift™ handset along with the
full suite of Helio products and services through its nationwide
network of dealers. The Drift is the third handset launched by
Helio and features custom-built services that harness advanced
GPS technology, GPS-enabled Google Maps™ for mobile and Buddy
Beacon™.
HELIO LLC, the new mobile service that is bringing a fresh approach
to the wireless industry, caters to customers looking for an experience
beyond a typical phone and provides a mobile entertainment handset
and an innovative way to connect with friends. Coupled with a wealth
of applications, games and always-on network connectivity, Helio
is a must-have device for savvy customers.
Drift
This sleek and compact slider packs exceptional power and optimized
access to the high speed 3G network into a slim, elegant shape.
Produced by Samsung and exclusively available to Helio members,
Drift launches in two colors: gunmetal black and frost white. Drift
features a 2.12 inch high-resolution QVGA display, stereo Bluetooth®,
128MB internal memory expandable via microSD™, 2.0 megapixel
camera with 4x digital zoom and flash for shooting photos and
video, MP3, MPEG-4 and VOD support for a wide variety of entertainment
options. Drift is also complete with GPS capabilities to support
innovative new Helio services in addition to existing custom
services like Helio On Top (H.O.T.). With Drift, blogging,
downloading music videos, playing games and streaming video is
faster and easier than before.
The suite of Helio handsets offers outstanding graphic quality
capable of running dazzling 3-D games. With the broadband-like
speeds of the EVDO network customers can surf the web and check
email from virtually anywhere. All handsets have built-in 2 megapixel
cameras with flash and video, 70-128MB internal memory and T-Flash
for memory expansion providing plenty of capacity for MP3s, MPEGs,
MMS and games. The stylish handset packaging includes a stereo
ear bud headset, a 2.5 to 3.5 mm adapter and a USB cable to load
media files from a PC or to download images.
Plans and Features
American Wireless dealers offer a wide variety of Helio
service plans to best serve customers. Basic plans begin $40 per
month and All-in Membership begins at $65. All-in Membership service
plans include (data charges apply for A La Carte memberships):

new service providing real-time traffic, detailed directions,
integrated search results, easily movable maps and satellite imagery.
- Buddy Beacon™ – Brand new service to enable
Helio members to switch on their Buddy Beacon™ and use satellite technology
to broadcast their location to the friends they add to their Buddy List.
- MySpace on Helio - Get an on-the-go, direct connection to
MySpace's network of over 130 million users, plus exclusive photo downloads
and blogging.
- H.O.T. (Helio on Top) Service - Choose your news. Live dynamic
news feeds of technology, sports, music and entertainment right to the device.
- 3G Network Access

Search, and one-click access to your favorite sites. Surf, download, shop,

Helio customers can now share their experience with a $10 per
line Shared Program. Up to four additional lines can be added to
the Basic 1000 or Basic 1500 plans and members can share from the
anytime minute bucket. Helio Share Membership can only be activated
through the Helio Call Center by calling (888) 88-HELIO. A $30
Activation fee applies to each line added.
Helio Trade Up Program
American Wireless dealers will provide customers an instant $50
discount off the purchase of a new device when customers turn
in their old cell phone, MP3 player, digital camera, PDA or game
devices at the time of purchase. Old devices must be in working
condition with the battery attached. Reimbursement forms will
be provided.
